This time of year fills our homes with pumpkin everything, all things cozy and the smell of yummy comfort food. It’s also a time of reflection as we gather with our loved ones to celebrate Thanksgiving. This season reminds us to slow down, soak in all the things around us and count our many blessings.
This holiday brings back so many fond memories; anticipating the arrival of family, the smell of turkey roasting in the oven, mashed potatoes, stuffing and you can’t forget the pumpkin pie! There’s something extra special and exciting about having all the ones you love under one roof, enjoying good food and good conversation.
Hosting family is something we love to do, especially putting together the perfect festive touches at the dinner table to make it extra special. We’ve created a Thanksgiving tablescape using some of our favourite Fall pieces found here at Anna’s. We hope this inspires you to start incorporating some seasonal items into your home if you haven’t already.
First, we combined some beautiful artificial greens and florals to our centrepiece. This is a great way to add texture and those beautiful Fall shades to your tabletop. We started with magnolia leaves as our base since they have a wider, flatter shape to them, then added in a few stems of artificial eucalyptus. Layering pieces with different shades of the same colour is a wonderful way to add texture without making things look overdone and busy. Next, we used these delicate floral stems as a filler and to add a little pop of colour. Get creative, have fun and mix and match a variety of different pieces and textures.
A harvest table set up just isn’t complete without an array of pumpkins, so after arranging our greens we started with two of our larger pumpkins in these gorgeous shades of orange. Come into Anna’s for all your Fall decorating needs, we offer everything to get your indoor and outdoor decorating done with our wonderful selection of pumpkins in all sorts of sizes, shapes and colours.
Real pumpkins are a must but we couldn’t pass up using this large vine pumpkin as our focal point in our tablescape. We love that it adds another element of texture but still stays within our earthy style and colour scheme. We also added a few of the small vine pumpkins and we love the contrast of the deep brown vine against the greens and pumpkins.
When it comes to styling any space in your home incorporating different heights is always key. Bringing the eye up adds depth and visual interest so we’ve included these gorgeous rustic candelabra made out of wood and metal. Maybe it’s the romantic in us, but adding candlelight to a dinner table seems to instantly set the mood. We also nestled votive holders amongst our greenery to add more warm, cozy lighting.
The small details can really go a long way. Adding these wicker and rope placemats under our plates creates the perfect background for each place setting. We believe that it’s all about layering so we’ve applied this technique to our greenery, pumpkins and place setting items. We can’t get enough of these pumpkin patterned napkins and love the way that folding them neatly and placing them under your plates helps draw the eye to different areas of your table and gives off a simple and clean appearance.
If you host Thanksgiving dinner every year, grabbing these burlap cutlery holders is a must! Not only are they adorable, but they finish off each place setting so perfectly. Another item you can never have too many of if you are a frequent hostess, are serving platters and dishes. Anna’s carries a great selection of platters and plates that will make hosting your family and friends so much easier. These also make a great hostess gift because like we said, you can never have too many! These serving dishes are practical for all your holiday gatherings, but they’re also beautiful enough to display in your hutch or kitchen shelving too. What goes with serving dishes? Serving utensils. We adore these serving forks and spoons with sayings like “Happy Thanks-Gobble”, “It’s Turkey Time” and “Hey Pumpkin”.
