Garden Centre Associate
The Opportunity . . .

Our Team is growing and we are currently looking for Greenhouse Associates who will be responsible for daily plant care and maintenance, as well as restocking within the garden centre. The Greenhouse Associates will also be responsible for providing customers with sound advice related to planting, plant care, as well as, general guidance related to various gardening endeavours.

To Be Successful, You Must . . .
  • Possess at least one year of experience in the retail industry. Knowledge of a retail POS system is an asset, as well as, experience in horticulture.
  • Be a quick learner, and be able to effectively communicate knowledge of plants, plant products, and appropriate plant care measures.
  • Thrive in a busy atmosphere and be equipped to handle large crowds.


This is a full-time position. Due to the nature of our business, you will be required to work weekends and some holidays during the busy seasons.

Please note the particular working conditions: Must be able to work in a warm, humid, non-air-conditioned environment, and be able to perform general physical activities such as, lifting (up to 30 lbs.), bending and standing for extended periods of time, moving large and/or heavy merchandise, standing on concrete, as well as working in varied weather conditions.

Garden Centre Team Leader
The Opportunity . . .

Reporting to the General Manager, the Garden Centre Team Leader oversees the daily activities of the Greenhouse Team (Patio Pot Specialists and Garden Centre Associates), to ensure efficient plant operations, as well as, plant sales. This position is responsible for leading a Team of 2 – 15 individuals, as well as, overseeing the scheduling, hiring, onboarding, and training of all full time and/or seasonal employees.

Key Responsibilities Include, (but are not limited to) . . . 
  • Ensure effective greenhouse operations and provide support as required. Provide staff with ongoing training of plant material, customer service and plant care.
  • Oversee, direct and coach the Greenhouse Team. Collaborate with the General Manager relating to hiring and staffing requirements.
  • Schedule the Greenhouse Team to ensure adequate coverage and service level. Provide staffing solutions or coverage when required.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager and Marketing Manager to develop in-store promotions and weekly sales. Update signage and prepare sale displays in accordance with weekly promotions.
  • Oversee the creation of easily maintainable and aesthetically appealing plant displays. Ensure proper plant maintenance (watering, spacing, etc.) in accordance with Anna’s Flowers’ standard of excellence.
  • Process plant returns and address plant-related customer concerns in accordance with Anna’s Flowers’ policies and procedures.
  • Assist customers and provide sound advice related to plant products and specific plant care measures.
  • Follow, establish and evaluate plant-specific product quality standards. Be able to spot disease and unwanted pests.
  • Work in collaboration with the General Manager and Purchasing Manager to oversee inventory and assist with the ordering of plant material.
  • Analyze current plant sales, recognize trends and develop forecasts.
  • Collaborate with the Sales Manager to organize plant related Workshops in the Spring, Fall and Winter seasons.
  • Oversee the production of seasonal planter construction. (i.e. Spring, Summer, Fall, and Holiday Program)
  • Contribute to the overall success of Anna’s Flowers by assisting/supporting other the departments as needed, and by exhibiting an upbeat attitude, cooperative behaviour and positive work habits.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Recognize unsafe conditions and practices, and make corrections to prevent injuries and property loss.  Support or complete safety inspections of your department/area, and be involved in incident investigation and inspection programs.  Follow and adhere to Health and Safety policies and procedures.
To Be Successful, You Must . . .
  • Possess a minimum of three years of retail garden centre experience. Plant knowledge is an asset.
  • Possess a minimum of one year of experience managing a team of 5 – 10 people. Experience with MS Excel and Word, as well as a POS system is required (experience with Counterpoint is considered an asset).
  • Be fluent in English and have strong communication skills (written and oral), Spanish would be an asset.
  • Possess leadership skills and have the ability to coach Team members.
  • Build collaborative and constructive working relationships.
  • Have strong organizational skills and have the ability to set priorities and clear direction.
  • Be customer focused – know how to provide a WOW experience by greeting customers with a welcoming acknowledgement, provide knowledge and friendly service.
  • Take personal responsibility for seeing efforts through to completion, and be equipped to make quick and difficult decisions.

Patio Pot Specialist
The Opportunity . . .

Our Team is growing and we are currently looking for a Patio Pot Specialist who will be responsible for the production of seasonal patio planters. The Patio Pot Specialist will create beautiful planters for everyday, as well as, custom orders for Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.

  • Be a quick learner, efficient, hardworking, and possess the ability to work independently.
