Store Operations Manager
Role Overview:

Under the supervision of the General Manager, you will oversee the daily activities of the Sales, Designs & Greenhouse team (Greenhouse associates, Plant Custom orders, Patio Plants associate, Plant Customer Service Associate), to ensure efficient store & plant operations. The Store operations manager promotes store growth through coaching on the sales floor and encourages continuous learning/improvement of new products and services.

The Store Operations Manager assesses individual and team performance against business goals and implements business improvement strategies. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all store operations policies. Works in close collaboration with Marketing and Purchasing. The incumbent leads a team of 10-30 seasonal workers and is responsible for scheduling, hiring, onboarding, training of all full time, temporary and/or seasonal employees.

Key Accountabilities include but are not limited to:
  • Oversee the Customer service associates, Garden Center Leads, Design associate and provide direction, coaching and is responsible for hiring employees. Collaborate with General Manager to determine labor requirements.
  • Ensure effective store and greenhouse operations and provide support as required. Ensure staff has appropriate knowledge and skills for sales, customer service, plant material, plant care, etc. to ensure an unparalleled customer experience.
  • Contribute to the overall success of Anna’s Flowers by collaborating with other department Managers and demonstrate leadership, accountability and create a positive work environment.
  • Coach employees in quality standards and expectations to ensure a “WOW” customer experience.
  • Schedule Sales & greenhouse employees to ensure adequate coverage and service level. Provide staffing solutions or coverage when required.
  • Work in collaboration with Marketing and Purchasing to review sales, revenue and forecasts and align the team to be able to deliver on business goals.
  • Oversee and ensure proper restocking of plants and store items.
  • Ensure proper plant maintenance (watering, spacing, cleaning, etc.) in accordance with Anna’s Flowers standard of excellence.
  • Oversee process implementation in accordance to SOP.
  • Work in collaboration with the General Manager & Purchasing and manage inventory and provide input with ordering store & plant materials.
  • Collaborate with General Manager & Marketing Manager to organize workshops series Spring, Fall and Winter
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Recognize unsafe conditions and practices and make corrections to prevent injuries. Follow and adhere to Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Develop/ maintain & Implement policies & procedures, checklists to ensure consistent Anna’s Flowers practices for sales, plant operations & designs.
  • People Management: 10-20 employees.

Education / Experience / Language:

  • Prior Visual Display, Fashion Merchandising, Design experience preferred but not required.
  • Degree/Diploma/Experience in Creative Field; Art, Interior Design, Fashion Design, Floral Arranging, Horticulture considered an asset.
  • Experience, interest and familiarity with Retail/Gardening/Interior design/Wellness topics and trends considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in computers/technology/social media.
  • Language: advanced English (written and oral).
  • Flexible schedule- ability to adjust tasks based on seasonal business fluctuations.

This is a full-time position. Due to the nature of our business, you may be required to work evenings, weekends and some holidays during peak seasons.

Visual Merchandise Lead
Role Overview:

As the Visual Merchandise Lead, you will be our in-store design visionary, establishing a process for merchandising, responsible for maintaining Anna’s brand image, store design and in-store design projects. Working closely with the Marketing and Sales team to ensure that all of Anna’s products and properties are up to visual standards. Making certain that the visual experience aligns with the core values of Anna’s in order to attract potential Customers and retain existing ones.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Uphold Anna’s mission, vision and values.
  • Lead, direct and execute store vision for displays and product orders, by understanding trends and capitalizing on demand while understanding Anna’s brand and target audience.
  • Establish Merchandising process and procedure: Planograms, specifying zones, assigning tasks, etc.
  • Create and maintain a merchandising display photo library with the most current photos and original installation pictures.
  • Create a Merchandising plan to ensure all displays are rotated and seasonally appropriate:
    • Large seasonal change-overs Q1: February, Q3: August and Q4: October.
    • Quarterly/Monthly/Weekly display updates based on inventory, sales, promotions, trends etc.
    • Create and implement daily action items and checklists to identify gaps, create/change and implement procedures when necessary.
  • Collaborate with Purchase Co-ordinator, Customer Service Manager and Marketing Manager to gather information and strategize regarding product sales, customer satisfaction, daily sales, customer feedback, product accessibility, inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with Purchase Co-ordinator and Marketing Manager to determine areas of overstock, the necessity for promotions.
  • Collaborate with Purchase Co-ordinator to determine a timeline for inbound merchandise and ensure inventory is properly processed before being merchandised on the sales floor.
  • Understand the inventory levels of high selling products and alert Purchasing Co-ordinator and Sales Manager when you notice outages.
  • Roll out and incorporate new product in a timely manner.
  • Make merchandise changes based off of product flow and inventory levels in their zones.
  • Communicate goals, coach and define clear verbal and written actions items to Merchandising/Stocking assistants.
  • Oversee signage/pricing at Anna’s to ensure it is maintained and in excellent condition at all times.
  • Responsible for maintenance and organization of walls, aisles, fixtures, visual displays and overstock areas.
  • Take proactive measures to limit environmental damage to the product (moisture/water drips/ heat pipes/etc.)
  • Engage and inspire our customers on the floor.
  • Make meaningful connections and add joy to our customers’ lives.
  • Create a warm and welcoming environment in Anna’s
  • Leverage our products to tell stories.
  • Assist in creative brainstorming, execution and guiding of workshops and custom design orders.

GARDEN CENTRE ASSOCIATE
The Opportunity . . .

Our Team is growing and we are currently looking for Greenhouse Associates who will be responsible for daily plant care and maintenance, as well as restocking within the garden centre. The Greenhouse Associates will also be responsible for providing customers with sound advice related to planting, plant care, as well as, general guidance related to various gardening endeavours.

To Be Successful, You Must . . .
  • Possess at least one year of experience in the retail industry. Knowledge of a retail POS system is an asset, as well as, experience in horticulture.
  • Be a quick learner, and be able to effectively communicate knowledge of plants, plant products, and appropriate plant care measures.
  • Thrive in a busy atmosphere and be equipped to handle large crowds.

This is a full-time seasonal position. Due to the nature of our business, you will be required to work weekends and some holidays during the busy seasons.
