Words are powerful. They can affect our emotions, our mindset and our outlook on just about everything.
That’s why we think it’s so important to use positive words when we’re talking about ourselves and others. Surrounding yourself with positive people and positive reminders on a daily basis will also help you stay upbeat, and in a state of “nothing can bring me down”. We need to practice these positive ways of life with everyone we interact with and exercise encouraging words of affirmation to ourselves. Being kind to others should be everyone’s goal in life, but being kind to yourself should be right at the top of your priority list too.
From the moment you wake up, try your best to think positively. We like to think about and sometimes write down, 5 things we’re grateful for. It doesn’t have to be deep and meaningful, for example, the hot coffee you’re drinking, the sunshine pouring through your window, a sleeping baby, etc. Writing down and acknowledging things you’re grateful for is such a great way to not only stay positive but to really see the many things we’re so blessed to have in our lives. Journaling doesn’t have to be a chore, jotting down a few quick sentences about your day, your emotions, a new goal or things you’re grateful for is a great way to start. Before you know it, it’ll be something you look forward to and most likely it will become part of your daily routine. Getting your thoughts down on paper makes us face our emotions and deal with some of our feelings that are sometimes confusing or overwhelming.
The benefits of journaling include; evoking mindfulness, helping you achieve your goals, managing your emotions, strengthening your memory and your self-discipline, improving your communication skills, providing an emotional release, sparks creativity and builds self-confidence. Why wouldn’t you want to start a journal with those kinds of benefits? Come into Anna’s and browse our selection of beautiful notebooks and start journaling today!
Along with being grateful for what we have, we spoke about positive affirmations and being kind to yourself. The world is a harsh place sometimes and instead of constantly building up our self-confidence there are always people telling us what we can’t do and what we aren’t. Before we know it we start to believe others and negative thoughts can start to creep into our head. That’s why we need to remind ourselves that we are capable and enough. Writing down, verbally repeating and believing positive affirmations builds confidence and puts your mind in the right state to go out and conquer your day. Where do you need a little boost of confidence? Sit down and write some affirmations that speak to you.
Here are some affirmations we love:
I AM enough
I AM strong
I AM confident
I AM surrounded by love
I AM worthy of good things
I will let go of the things I cannot control
I AM in charge of my own self-worth
I love myself for who I am
All things are temporary
I make the best of every situation
Life throws us a lot of curveballs. How do we handle, learn from and overcome these challenges? We find that reading and absorbing positive words of support and encouragement written in a book, magazine, online blog, text message, email, card, and even home décor pieces really help us focus on the positive things in life. We love having signs hung throughout our house with our favourite quotes or sayings and we especially love these letter boards, that you can find right here at Anna’s. Letterboards are so versatile and can be used to write messages, make announcements and so much more. We love that you can change them up to display one meaningful word, a funny phrase or an inspirational/positive quote that helps you get through the day or reminds you to be more intentional. If you’re a visual person like us, seeing these daily reminders throughout your home is a great way to start your day off.
Being a positive light in other people’s lives is something we strive for, whether it’s a thoughtful text message or mailing a “just thinking of you” card, it’s amazing how these small gestures can impact someone’s day. Anna’s carries a great selection of thoughtful gifts and cards to send and surprise those special people in your life. So take the time to put a little extra effort into making someone feel loved today and send them a quick text, mail a small gift or card filled with a personal message. You don’t need to spend a lot of money to really make someone smile.
Words greatly impact our day, whether it’s something we see or hear it can really affect our day and our mood. So let’s use words as a way of encouraging and supporting ourselves and the people around us. There’s no greater feeling than knowing you’ve made someone else happy, so get out there and conquer your day with a big smile and a mouth and head full of positive thoughts!
